FLUXUS FILM SCREENINGS
The McEachern Art Center is excited to announce a series of film and video screenings in the installation room, running from September 19th through October 12th. The featured video, The Exquisite Moving Corpse, includes scenes by Bibbe Hansen and Ken Friedman, who are also the subjects of a simultaneous exhibition in the Plunkett Gallery at Mercer’s campus, on view through October 12th. The video, organized by Sean Miller, Jack Massing, and Chip Lord, showcases 60 artists in 60 minutes whose work uses the Surrealist parlor game as the structure for the video.
Other screenings include a video of a recent performance of Fluxus artist and composer, Philip Corner's Piano Activities, which include Bibbe Hansen, Billie Maciunas, Sean Miller, and Craig Coleman. This performance was part of the Fluxus in the Swamp exhibition, currently at Santa Fe College Gallery in Gainesville, Florida . Additional videos by Bibbe Hansen, Beck, and Channing Hansen will also be shown. These screenings compliment the Plunkett Gallery show, Threaded Actions: Ken Friedman, Bibbe Hansen, and Friends.
Screenings will be held:
Thursdays: 4:00 - 6:00 PM
Fridays: 6:00 - 8:00 PM
Saturdays: 4:00 - 6:00 PM
Special events include a talk by Bibbe Hansen on October 10th and a Q&A with Dr. Billie Maciunas on October 11th following a screening of George, a documentary about her late husband, Fluxus founder George Maciunas.
Don't miss this exciting opportunity to engage with the legacy of the Fluxus Art movement! These events are partially funded by a Visit Macon grant.
