Emily Furr
About the Artist
Emily Furr is an oil painter and maker based in Charleston SC. She graduated with a BFA from Winthrop University in 2016 and an MFA from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2020. Furr's work centers around feelings of sentimentality, lines between safety and anxiety, and an embracing of play. She loves the ideas of excitement and anticipation in her work and how these can coexist with concepts she frequently visits like fear and loss. Her art reflects a vibrant, vivid palette that encourages curiosity and exploration creating a striking yet comfortable atmosphere in her works. Emily’s oil paintings demonstrate a unique, sculptural approach to the medium, utilizing shaped substrates that are layered and combined to methodically express her own narratives.

The MAC will be exhibiting Emily Furr’s Work February 2nd through March 3oth. Opening Reception begins at 6pm on Friday, February 2nd, 2024.
